Isak Dinesen, Out of Africa
“I know a song of Africa, - i thought - of the giraffe and the african moon lying on her back, of the ploughs in the fields and the sweaty faces of the coffee pickers, does africa know a song of me?
THE (SOMEWHAT) TERRIFIED TOURIST ~
Talk about jumping in with gusto! Having only spent whimsical moments of daydreaming about places I would like to see, I was abruptly challenged one day while flying with a particularly well travelled coworker. When asked the “Why not?”’s, I ran out of justifiable reasons…so WHY NOT jump right into this as a rookie tourist going to Kenya, Africa as a solo traveler to celebrate turning sixty years old? Why not book your airline tickets to demonstrate NO fear? Why not let the bread crumbs lead to the best booking Agent, custom itinerary, Tourist Visa and half dozen travel vaccinations? All of this during the stages of outbreak of the Omicrom variant of CoVid19. Just a little crazy, right? But I did it….and have not a single regret. Kenya….an amazing jump into the pool of world travel!
